Who Is Wendy Lyn?

Wendy Lyn is known as the “Insider’s Insider.” Her hard-won all-access pass within the international culinary community developed from working as a PR & Restaurant Consultant for the most notable chefs & restaurants in the world. In addition to conceptualizing restaurants to launching the first US Michelin Guide in NYC – the vivacious professional eater has been globetrotting for years on marathon eating & drinking day trips with her friends.

Wendy’s trusted Southern appeal, high-regard for French food & wine and her energetic genuine fun-style, have endeared her to top chefs & industry pros who consider her part of their family. Chefs, restaurateurs, journalists, and wine makers – know they can count on Wendy as a trusted industry insider to give them essential addresses where to eat & drink in Paris, right now.

Having retired from the restaurant business doesn’t mean she stopped traveling to eat, far from it. Today she chronicles her international eating & drinking adventures on this site, Food & Wine Magazine, Travel + Leisure Magazine, Epicurious, and multiple food programs on The Travel Channel.

Wendy Must Accept Special Treatment, Free Meals & Travel, Non?

Non, non, and non. Wendy refuses junkets, invitations, and advertising. She pays for her own meals and travel except when she is on assignment and is reimbursed for expenses associated with the job.

Restaurant solicitations are not responded to nor ever accepted. She don’t need a free meal honey, she is happy to pay for a great one.

Where Should I Eat In Paris? Other International Food Cities?

Wendy travels just to eat & drink, and doesn’t think anything about jumping on a jet to go to the likes of Venice Italy, just for lunch. Paris France is her primary focus, but check out her other City Guides for insider recommendations from her recent travels.

How Does Wendy Choose Restaurants To Feature/Recommend?

Wendy created Paris Is My Kitchen as a short concise restaurant list for food-obsessed travellers who aren’t interested in every place to eat, only the places to eat in Paris, right now. A list 500+ places deep isn’t exactly helpful either.

All the restaurants that she shares are personal favourites where she is a regular and where she sends her chef and foodie friends. The places must be fun, and must have mostly natural wines on the list. Whether you drink or not – this one criteria alone means that the chef-owners are always making a conscious effort to serve fresh seasonal food.

She does not enjoy “testing” new restaurants and risk wasting a meal opportunity! So how does a restaurant end up on her radar? When she’s tipped off by positive word of mouth among her restaurant industry friends about what’s new and good as per the criteria above.

For each restaurant listing, she does her best to set expectations by explaining what the restaurant is, and what it isn’t, so that you know what you are signing up for before you reserve – and most importantly – so that you also don’t waste your precious meal opportunity in Paris.

Rave Reviews:

“Not only was Wendy’s Taste of Paris Food Tour a total learning experience, it was just plain fun. Wendy’s knowledge, delightful personality and connections made for quite the boring afternoon after our morning with her. Within minutes of leaving her we were asking each other, “Can we hit rewind and do that again?” – John and Michael

“If only there were a ‘Wendy’ in every major food city in the world…Barcelona, New York, Venice, London, etc. She’s that good.” – Steve and Molly

“After our Taste of Paris Food Tour with Wendy, we spent the afternoon talking about the amazing information she had shared with us … she is clearly on a personal mission to make sure that everyone has an authentic food experience in Paris and not the Disney cliché. Wendy Lyn changed the way we saw and experienced everything. She really is a star.” – Jane and Nelson C.

Physical Limitations:

Unfortunately, if you are not able to stand on your feet for long periods of time, the tours may not be suitable. You are on the go non-stop without much opportunity to sit and wine bars are standing room only.

Dates & Times:

Please do not reserve a tour on a same day international flight arrival. Wendy would rather meet you when you are refreshed and rested, not stressed about luggage, traffic, the hotel room not being ready, and jet lag zombies are no fun.

Allergies, Alcohol & Substitutions:

Wendy does her best to accommodate travelers with mild food allergies or with only one food restriction. Unless you are lactose intolerant, are a tee-totaler, have severe dietary restrictions, have strong dislikes or are a vegan – Wendy will figure it out. However, the point of the experience with Wendy is to have an authentic idea of what French cuisine includes which relies heavily on meat proteins, butter, bread, cheese and wine. To avoid disappointment, please note that although vegetarians are welcome it is not possible for Wendy to create a food tour just for vegans/picky eaters because it would not be an honest representation of French cuisine. Thank you for understanding.

Why no tee-totalers? Wine is an authentic indispensable part of the meal and life in France. Thirty minutes of the tour is devoted to wine.

I Am A Solo Traveler, Can I Join a Group?

Sorry, Wendy cannot run a tour experience for only one person or have solo travelers join a private group. Because the tours are private for 2-4 people traveling together, the registered travelers are outright requesting not to have strangers join their group.

Can I bring My Children Along?

To be honest, Wendy has had mixed experiences with children and young teenagers. While some young teenagers have absolutely loved it, the others were genuinely bored because they weren’t interested to begin with and were being dragged along by foodie parents. This is not only extremely unfair to the children, Wendy is a food & wine expert sharing time and adult knowledge with her clients, and is not a babysitter. Thank you for understanding.

Where Is My Confirmation?

Confirmations are ALWAYS sent to the email provided within minutes of your registration. First, please check your junk or spam folder. If you do not see it there, something’s gone wrong. For some strange reason and for example, “earthlink” addresses have a challenge with the server. If you haven’t received it, please send Wendy a message with an alternate email. Thank you!

Cancelation Policies:

All reservations are nonrefundable because your space is being guaranteed for your private tour, no exceptions. Walks start promptly. Late arrivals beyond 15 minutes will be treated as no shows and will be treated as cancelations. Cancelation policies also apply to any agreed upon rescheduled tour. You will be prompted to “Terms & Conditions” upon check out to acknowledge this policy.

Prepare For The Weather:

All tours take place out of doors on flat terrain while it is raining, freezing, snowing and the sun is shining brightly. During the summer you will be in direct sunlight and will need sunglasses, sunblock and hats. During the winter, your toasty-warm accommodations can be deceiving so be sure to dress for freezing weather and cold brisk wind, including socks and outerwear. The tours cannot stop for buying these types of purchases unless it is an emergency. If the heat reaches more than 90° or any serious weather predicted, you will be contacted prior to the tour to attempt to reschedule.
