Old-school classic wine bars serving mass-produced fancy “Bordeaux” by the glass paired with cheese plates are a thing of the past, replaced by a hot wave of natural wine bars in the urban 11th arr area of Paris owned by young up-and-coming tattoed chefs pouring funky 100% grape juice along side creative grazing plates are the new “new.”
Every major food & wine publication including Food & Wine Magazine have written about this evolution & revolution hell bent on returning to the way wine was made before machines and added chemicals were introduced. If you think “raisins” are what is in your bottle, think again.
The 11th arr is “the” area of Paris to discover these wines made by small producers with pure juice, little or no additives, from white to naturally bubbly (not Champagne) to orange, to red wine rosés to red. Chefs and wine makers from all over the world come to the 11th to see what is happening in terms of wine and food.

Day tours are for those interested in bread, cheese & wine – while evening wine bar tours are for those interested in restaurants, food & wine.
FAQ/What To Know Before Reserving This Food Tour:
Who Is This Wine Bar Tour Not For?
This tour is NOT for you if you are a classic wine drinker (we are drinking funky natural wines, including orange wines), picky eater (we eat all kinds of creative tapas plates such as squid ink sardine beignets, raw fish), want to sit down (we don’t), or don’t like loud music (there will be lots of it).
Unfortunately, if you are not able to stand on your feet for long periods of time, this tour may not be suitable. We are visiting standing room only wine bars and there is not always an opportunity to sit. Locals prefer to eat & drink this way, but can be surprising for visitors.
Date & Time:
Please do not reserve this tour on a same day international flight arrival. Unfortunately, Wendy has had mixed experiences with jet-lagged travellers sleeping through the tour.
Allergies, Alcohol & Substitutions:
Wendy does her best to accommodate travelers with mild food allergies or with only one food restriction. Unless you are lactose intolerant, are a tee-totaler, have severe dietary restrictions, have strong dislikes or are a vegan – Wendy will figure it out. However, the point of the experience with Wendy is to have an authentic idea of what French cuisine includes which relies heavily on meat proteins, butter, bread, cheese and wine.
To avoid disappointment, please note that although vegetarians are welcome it is not possible for Wendy to create a food tour just for vegans/picky eaters because it would not be an honest representation of French cuisine. Thank you for understanding.
Why no tee-totalers? Wine is an authentic indispensable part of the meal and life in France. The point of the tour is about wine, followed by food.
What Is Included:
What is included in the Paris Natural Wine Bar Tour is a fun informative four-hour private tour, Wendy’s time, knowledge, transportation – and a great night out.
Food & wine are not included because Wendy’s clients prefer freedom to be totally in control of what they want to eat & drink instead of a set budget & menu that does not fit their taste. Tapas -style sharing plates average 5-9€ each, glasses of wine 5-9€ each, and bottles of wine 20-35€.
Sorry, Wendy cannot run a tour experience for only one person or have solo travelers join a private group. Because the tours are private for 2-4 people traveling together, the registered travelers are outright requesting not to have strangers join their group.
Are The Tours For Children?
To be honest, it is a tough question to answer. Wendy has had mixed experiences with children and young teenagers. While some young teenagers have absolutely loved it, the others were genuinely bored because they weren’t interested to begin with and were being dragged along by foodie parents. This is not only extremely unfair to the children, Wendy is a food & wine expert sharing time and adult knowledge with her clients, and is not a babysitter. Thank you for understanding.

All reservations are nonrefundable because your space is being guaranteed for your private tour, no exceptions. Walks start promptly. Late arrivals beyond 15 minutes will be treated as no shows and will be treated as cancelations. Cancelation policies also apply to any agreed upon rescheduled tour. You will be prompted to “Terms & Conditions” upon check out to acknowledge this policy.
